As a Knoxville family photographer, my mission is simple: to help families of all kinds preserve the connections that matter most.
Family is not always easy, not always traditional, and not always what we imagined. But it is always important. The people who love you, support you, and show up for you — they’re your family. Whether you’re connected by blood, choice, or a mix of both, your story deserves to be honored and preserved.
I’m Hayley Howard — a photographer, mother, and social worker. I specialize in creating warm, meaningful, connection-centered family portraits for Knoxville families. And when I say family, I mean whatever that looks like for you.
Whether you’re raising tiny toddlers or blending families in creative, courageous ways — your people are worth documenting.
Family is more than shared DNA.
Family is the safe place where we feel known, seen, and loved. It’s the place where laughter echoes, hard conversations happen, and memories are made. For some, family is the one they were born into. For others, it’s the one they chose.
Both are beautiful. Both are valid. And both deserve to be celebrated.
In my years as a social worker, I’ve worked with many individuals who’ve had to redefine what family means for them. Maybe their biological relationships were strained. Maybe they grew up in chaos or loss. Maybe they’ve had to rebuild from scratch.
And in that rebuilding, they’ve created something powerful — a chosen family. Friends who became siblings. Mentors who became parents. Communities who became safety.
Your family is the people who show up. The ones who love you well and walk through life with you. Whoever that is — I’m here to help you honor it.
Healthy family connection is more than sentimental — it directly impacts our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
From a social work lens, we know that when individuals feel supported, they’re more likely to thrive. Children who grow up in loving, emotionally attuned environments tend to have higher self-esteem, better emotional regulation, and stronger interpersonal skills. Adults benefit too — with lower stress levels, deeper relationships, and better coping mechanisms during life’s challenges.
When you’re surrounded by people who make you feel safe, loved, and accepted — it changes you. It grounds you. It gives you resilience.
And when that connection is visible — when you can see it hanging on your wall or held in a photo album — it becomes even more powerful. It serves as a visual reminder of what’s real and lasting in your life.
Too often, people hesitate to book a family session because their situation doesn’t look “picture perfect.” Maybe you’re a single parent. Maybe you’re co-parenting. Maybe you’re in a season of rebuilding or redefining your relationships.
I want you to hear this: You are still worthy of being photographed.
Your story, with all its uniqueness and complexity, deserves to be seen. You don’t need the perfect home, the perfect outfits, or the perfect behavior. You don’t even need to have a traditional family structure. You just need love. That’s what matters most.
When I work with families in Knoxville, I focus on documenting the truth of who you are — not some curated version. If your kids are shy or wild, if your family is blended or chosen, if this season feels chaotic or calm — I want to capture it all with care and reverence.
As a Knoxville family photographer, I bring three things to every session: patience, empathy, and purpose.
As a mom of two, I understand that little ones have big feelings and short attention spans. I also know how hard it can be to feel comfortable in front of the camera — especially if you’re feeling exhausted or stretched thin.
That’s why my sessions are relaxed and pressure-free. I’ll guide you gently with prompts that spark real emotion and connection. You won’t need to force anything. You just show up with your people, and I’ll take care of the rest.
We’ll laugh, move, snuggle, and maybe even get a little muddy. Your kids will be free to be themselves. And I promise — the results will be beautiful.
Life moves fast. Babies become toddlers. Toddlers turn into teens. Your friends move, your parents age, your kids grow taller than you.
Photography is a way to hold onto a piece of now — before it slips away.
But more than that, family photos are a reflection of your values. They show what matters most in your life. They give you something to look back on when you need grounding. And they give your children — or your chosen family — a visual legacy of love.
When someone walks into your home and sees those images on your wall, they’ll see the people you cherish. And when you look at them, you’ll remember what a gift it is to love and be loved.
Photography, for me, is deeply personal.
Because of my background in social work, I approach every session with a trauma-informed, heart-centered lens. I understand the emotions that run beneath the surface — the pressure, the nerves, the hidden stories. And I make space for all of it.
This isn’t just a job to me — it’s a calling. I want you to feel seen, supported, and celebrated throughout the process. I want your kids to feel safe and free to be themselves. I want your partner, your mom, your best friend — whoever you bring with you — to feel included and loved.
I believe that beauty exists in the everyday moments — the chaos, the quiet, the connection. And I’m here to capture it with care.
If your family doesn’t look like the ones you see in magazines — you are not alone. If you’re building your own definition of love, belonging, and home — you are doing something brave and beautiful.
Your story deserves to be documented, just as much as anyone else’s.
Let’s celebrate your love. Let’s honor your journey. Let’s create images that reflect the truth of who you are — and the people who make life worth living.
